The life of Louis Rollet
Louis Marcel Édouard Rollet (1895 - 1988), was a 20th-century French painter.
He was introduced to the world of art and artists at a very early age, his father being an engraver.
He was a pupil of Ferdinand Cormon, but also of Jules Adler. Starting in 1921, he won a gold medal. He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, and at the Société coloniale des artistes français.
He was inspired by the Orient and the Far East, and received the Prix de l'Indochine in 1935.
His paintings are characteristic of Orientalism - and are inspired by the landscapes of North Africa and Japan, using the European painting techniques of the time.

Louis Rollet made his own mark on the twentieth-century art world, devoting most of his work to painting the Orient. He is not very well known in Europe today, but his works are currently enjoying great success on the auction market. Private collectors are asking a great deal for this artist.
