Pascal Adolphe Jean Dagnan-Bouveret was a French naturalist painter born on January 7, 1852 in Paris and died on July 3, 1929 in Quincey, Haute-Saône. He studied at the Beaux-Arts de Paris in Alexandre Cabanel's studio, then with Jean-Léon Gérôme. He is known for his naturalistic works and portraits, often characterized by their precision and realistic treatment. Dagnan-Bouveret was influenced by the realist movement and also explored religious themes in some of his works. His work is appreciated for its technical mastery and ability to capture everyday life in great detail. He exhibited at the Salon des artistes Français and at the World's Fairs of 1889 and 1900.
