Their vases and other jewels are particularly prized by buyers from all over the world. The price at which they sell on the art market ranges from €800 to €17,600, at the moment, a substantial difference but one that says a lot about the value that can be attributed to these creations. In 2013, a silver table basket dating from 1909 sold for €24,100, whereas it was estimated at between €25,000 and €30,000. The upside potential for these creations remains significant.

Henri Husson's career

Henri Husson (1852-1914) was an ironmonger, silversmith and coppersmith from the Vosges. The son of a locksmith, he learned metalworking techniques at an early age. He produced his first pieces in total anonymity. The foundryman Adrien Hébrard encouraged him to make a name for himself in the 1900s. A collector of butterflies, he drew much of his inspiration from nature to create his vases, bowls, boxes and other works in carefully chosen metals.

Thanks to Hébrard, with whom he collaborated on certain projects, he exhibited his work at the Salon des Artistes français from 1901. An exhibition was dedicated to him on Rue Royale.

Husson created a few pieces of jewelry at the end of his career, very few of which have yet been presented at auction.

Henri Husson's success at auction

Husson's works are distinguished by their exceptionality and by the blend of hand-crafted creation and precious metal work. Thanks to his creativity and expertise, he quickly made a name for himself. His creations are increasingly quoted and sought-after on the auction market.

Recognizing the artist's signature

Henri Husson, initially creating anonymously, renounced his signature for 27 years. At the end of his career, he signed some of his works, but not the majority. That's why, if you own or think you own a piece of jewelry by the house, it's vital to have it appraised.
