The life of Raymond Thibesart

Raymond Thibesart was born on May 2, 1874 into a well-to-do family in Bar-sur-Aube. Shortly afterwards, his parents moved to Enghien, a suburb of Paris. At the same time, the Thibesarts met the Boggios, a Venezuelan family living in France. Their son, Emile Boggio, was a future Impressionist painter.

Young Raymond Thibesart was quick to admire Emile Boggio and his talent for painting. Emile became Raymond's first teacher.

Later, Thibesart studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Académie Julian in Paris. His teachers introduced him to the Symbolist artistic movement that influenced his early work.

In 1902, he followed his friend Emile Boggio and moved to Vaux sur Seine, they then traveled together to Italy. From then on, Thibesart regularly practiced the "Postimpressionist" style. He frequently traveled to Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and Corsica to capture the beauty of the landscape. Driven by great passion, the painter created many pastels sur le vif, capturing moments and light.

Raymond Thibesart was a talented and sensitive painter.  Although not very famous, Thibesart produced many high-quality works.

Thibesart devoted seventy years of his life to painting. He died in 1968 at the age of 94.
