Rating and value of the artist Mela Muter

Mela Muler was an important figure in the Parisian art salons of the 20th century. She was part of the " L'École de Paris " movement, which was not really a movement per se, but a group of several artists of the time who collaborated and inspired each other's work. Today, prices for his works are soaring exponentially under auctioneers' hammers. Her paintings are particularly prized, and the price at which they sell on the art market ranges from €1,500 to €325,000, a considerable delta but one that speaks volumes about the value that can be attributed to Mela Muter's works. Style and technique of artist Mela Muter

Mela Muter was first noticed by Ambroise Vollard, the dealer who notably launched the careers of Braque and Picasso. She was initially influenced by Symbolism, then gradually turned to Expressionism. However, she never really fit into the characteristics of these currents, and marked her work with an artistic identity of her own.

The life of Mela Muter

Maria Melania Klingsland, and from her artist's name Mela Muter (1915-2001), a Franco-Polish artist, became a major figure in the 20th century art world. She trained at two schools: the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and the Académie Colarossi. Her life was marked by her association with Polish and Parisian intellectual circles, from which both her husbands descended.

She lived through both wars and traveled extensively in France, which had an influence on her work. She fled Paris during the Second World War because she feared she was in danger due to her acquaintances (communist and socialist intellectuals). She lived in Avignon for some time, where she refocused on literature. She was an artist before she was a painter, and so immersed herself in arts other than painting in order to produce her works. She also frequented musicians of her time who were in the same artistic vein, such as the pianist Erik Satie.

Like Pablo Picasso, eyesight problems slowed her production at the end of her life, and she died in her studio at the age of 91.

Mela Muter's imprint her period

Her work is marked by her own inspiration and she stands out artistically, but her work is also in part a long-term intellectual collaboration with artists from all walks of life.

She frequents Parisian Salons enormously, such as the Tuileries or the Salon d'Automne. She has met many artists and seen many artistic movements during her life, and her work reflects this. For a time, she was a member of the jury at the Salon d'Automne. Mela Muter exhibited in France and in many other countries, including Spain and the United States. Like Kandinsky and the Delaunays, her work is widely recognized and circulated.

She has been aware of all the advances and philosophical works on colorimetry, and her work reflects their evolution. Most of her work is oil on canvas, but she also produced a number of prints and watercolour drawings.

She has a remarkable notion of space and uses it to transform this vision into abstraction; she also frequents Auguste Perret.
