The life of Pietro de Francisco  

Pietro de Francisco (Francesco by birth) was a landscape painter born in 1873 in Palermo.

He trained at the Palermo Institute of Fine Arts, studying under Lojacono and Marchesi.

After producing for some time in Palermo, he obtained a grant to move to Rome, where he continued to study. Shortly after 1900, he was awarded the Prix de Rome.

In 1917, he published a book on the theory of painting, before turning his attention during the 1920s to the landscapes of Tunisia - then moving to Paris, where he further developed the exhibition of his works.

After obtaining French nationality, he settled in Saint-Tropez and then Menton, where he died in 1969.
