The artist's works and style

An artist who was active during the 20th century, Adolf Weber is a Swiss painter influenced by the French and probably Russian Impressionists, but also by Fauvism. His paintings are predominantly landscape scenes, representing reality fairly faithfully, yet using broad flat tints of paint as well as very vivid shades.

The life of Adolf Weber

Adolf Weber was a Swiss artist born in 1925 in Schiltwald, Switzerland. Very few details are known about his life and artistic training. He probably began producing in the 40s, following in the footsteps of the Impressionists and Fauvists.

Not all his paintings are dated, but there is a clear pictorial and stylistic evolution between them. Those that are known to date from the end of his career are characterized by thicker strokes and a more accomplished use of light. He also produced a few genre scenes and nudes, but the bulk of his output remained landscape depictions.

He probably didn't exhibit much in Switzerland, or anywhere else in the world.

Adolf Weber died in 1996 in Brügg.
