The life of Robert Indiana
Robert Indiana (1928 - 2018), less known as Robert Clark, his real name, is an American artist who has produced a variety of works.
He was born in New Castle, and studied art in several structures in the USA, notably Chicago. He then moved to Edinburgh and then London, and traveled in Latin America and the rest of Europe. In 1958, he settled permanently in New York, where he produced most of his work. As early as 1961, he was exhibited alongside Pop Art artists in the Studio of Dance exhibition, then in the New Realists exhibition, and organized his first solo show the following year. He followed in the footsteps of other Pop Art artists, systematically exhibiting his work with theirs all over the world - like Robert Rauchenberg. He uses neon lighting, silkscreen, sculpture and, to a lesser extent, painting. He is best known for his " Love " motifs, which he uses on canvases, silkscreens and aluminum sculptures, with the O inclined. The iconography became a veritable Pop Art reference.
At the end of his career, he moved to Vinalhaven, an American island, where he refused all commissions and produced exclusively primitive sculptures inspired by tree trunks.
He died at the age of 90 on his island.

In addition to his artistic career, Robert Indiana is an outstanding figure on the New York art scene. His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums around the world, and he has left a lasting imprint on the 20th-century American art scene. His life and work were marked by a constant exploration of new media and new forms of artistic expression, making him one of the most versatile and innovative artists of his time.
