The life of Pierre Guariche

Pierre Guariche is a French interior designer and decorator born in 1926.

Born in Bois-Colombes, he graduated from ENSAD, where he was trained by René Gabriel, then François Gascoin.

He participated in the Atelier de Recherches Plastiques from 1953 to 1957. At the same time, he created various lighting fixtures and furniture, including his Cerf-Volant luminaire. He responded to numerous requests, including the Créteil Court, the Prefecture and the Essonne General Council.

His work quickly became a great success, receiving numerous commissions and selling his furniture through publishers. Today, there is no studio with a monopoly on the marketing of his work.

He died in 1995, aged 69, in Bandol.

Pierre Guariche's imprint on his period

Pierre Guariche is not a well-known 20th-century designer in France, yet he is highly regarded by collectors of design and contemporary furniture for the sobriety and elegance of his furniture.

Today, his stock is rising on the auction market, as furniture enthusiasts increasingly seek out this style and period, and use this privileged route to procure furniture that is no longer marketed by a publisher.
