The life of Paul Milet
Paul Milet (1870-1950) was a 20th-century ceramist working in the Paris region.
Born in Sèvres, he was the son of Félix Optat Milet. Although he had some basic training thanks to him, he perfected his training in the laboratory of the Sèvres factory, then joined his father in his factory in Sèvres, which he replaced a few years later. He collaborated with several artists at the Sèvres factory. He had a son, Henri, who in turn took over the ceramics factory. He exhibited at various institutions, including the 1900 Universal Exhibition at the Palais Galliera. Thanks to his training as a chemist, he carried out expert appraisals for the customs authorities to control porcelain imports from China.
Paul Milet sold his work in their boutique on rue Royale, founded by his father and Clément Massié. His creations have also been distributed at Galeries Lafayette and La Samaritaine.
Because of the stylistic proximity of the works produced by the Sèvres factory, he had to register his trademark " PM Sèvres ". It is sometimes found with the initials reversed.
