A landscape painter, Terlikowski mainly depicts rural spaces or still lifes. He produced mostly postimpressionist works, occasionally also trying his hand at the portrait genre.
Terlikowski, the little-known Polish painter
Vladimir de Terlikowski (1873 - 1951) was born in Poraj, at the time still part of the Russian Empire.
Born into a family of Polish nobility, he traveled throughout Europe and discovered painting in the process. He trained briefly at the Munich School of Fine Arts, and with Jean-Paul Laurens in Paris.
He finally settled in the Montparnasse district, where he produced works using knives and palettes - a technique popular at the time with artists such as Jacques Germain.
He joins the École de Murol, a group of painters from different currents who painted together in a village near the Puy de Sancy.
He exhibited several times at the Salon d'Automne and died in Paris at the age of 77.
