Charline Von Heyl's career  

Charline von Heyl is a German artist born in 1960. She was born in Mainz, and studied painting in Düsseldorf and Hamburg. In the '80s, she took part in the Cologne art scene.

She now lives in New York, and her works have been exhibited all over the world. One of her paintings is part of the permanent collection of the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris. Other works are in the permanent collections of the Hammer in Los Angeles and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, as well as in Chicago, Boston, Brussels and London. She is one of the most successful contemporary artists on the international scene, both with the general public and with bidders.

Her first solo exhibition took place in 2011 in Philadelphia. She has since gained international acclaim. She says, " [try] to keep paintings before language. Or better still, before phrases ". Her work is almost hermeneutic in approach, so the viewer's feeling and gaze count for a great deal in her production.
