Description

Spanish taza sword, 17th century. Openwork and chased iron frame. Pie-shaped pommel with openwork giving a rudenté effect on the lower half and chased scroll decoration. The body knot features a "pas d'âne", two straight quillons and a patterned joint arch following the pommel. Openwork and chased taza with interlacing medallions featuring mermaids, Moorish and antique-style soldier profiles and a two-headed eagle. Wooden spindle covered with grid filigree. Complete with its rare inner plate decorated with taza. Straight, quarter-grooved blade, hollowed out with the signature ".X.X.SEBASTIAN.X.X.ERNANDES.X.X.X.X.X.", then flattened.
