Beautiful map of the European part of Russia, with title and scale cartouche. Alexis-Hubert Jaillot (1632-1712), a French cartographer, joined the Sanson heirs and redrew Nicolas Sanson's maps on a larger scale for the "Atlas Nouveau" (1674) and the maritime atlas "Le Neptune François" (1693). This map is taken from the re-engraved Dutch counterfeit of the Atlas Nouveau, published by Pieter Mortier in Amsterdam - Pastoureau, Les Atlas français-XVIe - XVIIe siècles : Jaillot I D 1692 contrefaçon hollandaise.
