Claude Vignon (Tours 1593-1670 Paris) The Crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ, with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Mary Magdalene, and Saint John. Sanguine and black stone on paper, laid on tile 19.9 x 11.7 cm. Possibly preparatory to a painting for a high altar that has unfortunately not yet been identified, our delicate composition, dating from the 1630s, was translated into engraving, in reverse, by Nicolas des Hayes (one copy in Vienna, cited by P.Pacht-Bassani, inv.
