Auguste PELLETIER (active between 1800 and 1847) The walking promerop from Africa Gouache on paper 13.5 x 10 cm. Monogrammed and dated at bottom: PA 1844 To be compared with the plate (no. 23) the artist supplied for the "Histoire naturelle des promérops, et des guêpiers" by French ornithologist François Le Vaillant (1753-1824), first published in 1807.
