Influenced by the Abstract Expressionism movement, Sergio de Castro's style focused on gesture and movement, emphasizing spontaneity and raw expression.

Sergio de Castro's life
Sergio de Castro was born in Buenos Aires in 1922, to parents of Spanish descent from the noble house of Castro. He was brought up in Switzerland, but later returned to Argentina.
He studied under Joaquin Terres Garcia, who like him was a multi-talented intellectual: paintings, writing, theology ... Sergio de Castro took a keen interest in music, and was Manuel de Falla's assistant for over a year. In 1949, the artist obtained a scholarship from the French government to continue his music studies. Two years later, however, he abandoned this discipline and devoted himself solely to painting. He won the Hallmark Prize in New York, then exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1960 and at the Argentine Pavilion in 1980.
The artist shone not only with his painting on canvas, but also with his stained glass creations in Caen, Hamburg, Argentina and Switzerland.
He was also for a time professor of humanities at the University of Strasbourg.
The artist died in 2012, at the age of 90.
